What is your field, and how did you get in?
I have been a professional illustrator for 4 decades and I began by selling a cartoon to a surfer magazine at the age of 14.
Where do you want your Journey to lead you?
I'm semi retired so my journey is to go down the least bumpy of roads
What would you like to achieve within the next year?
To accomplish anything I set out to do for whatever reason, with the least amount of turmoil.
So far, how have you been developing your skills?
Practice....practice....practice....
Where does your motivation come from?
When I was young, I would draw what I liked and show it to people. Art became a form of communication for me and nothing has really changed.
Where do you go when you seek inspiration?
Movies, television, my own imagination...
What are some of your favorite artists and genres?
Gil Elvgren, Frank Frazetta, Basil Gogos, Reynold Brown....I love Fantasy, Science Fiction and, to a great extent, Horror.
What are some of your favorite writers and books?
Stephen King, Robert Bloch, Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. P. Lovecraft, Joe Lansdale, Richard Matheson, Charles Beaumont, Ray Bradbury. Golden Apples of the Sun. R is for Rocket. Machineries of Joy. A Medicine for Melancholy. Dangerous Visions.
What do you listen to?
Rock 'n' Roll. Pop Music.
What are some of your favorite movies and filmmakers?
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. TWELVE ANGRY MEN. INHERIT THE WIND. KING KONG(1933) SON OF KONG(1933). MIGHTY JOE YOUNG(1949) THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD(1951) ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL(1951)
What is your favorite website?
I don't really have one......I'm all over the place. Maybe Google Images, because that's where I get a great deal of reference material.
